Aprovechando el pretexto del Año Nuevo Chino, no quise dejar pasar la oportunidad de escribir y compartir con ustedes mi experiencia sobre este maravilloso país. A finales del año pasado (Año Nuevo Occidental), tuve la gran oportunidad de ir en un viaje familiar e inolvidable, donde la cultura, las tradiciones, la comida y su gente hacen una mezcla única que sin duda los invito a probar y conocer algún día.
Taking advantage of the Chinese New Year’s Eve excuse, I didn’t wanted to let go the opportunity of writing in this post about this wonderful country. At last year’s finals (Occidental New Year’s Eve), I had the great opportunity to go on an unforgettable family trip, to this country, where the culture, the traditions, the food and its people make a unique mix that without a doubt I invite you to try and get to know someday.
Mi viaje se resumió en Shanghai y Beijing en donde volé desde Madrid para reunirme con mi familia que venía de México, así que les hablaré de Shanghai y mi top de lugares que no pueden dejar de visitar:
#1. El Bund – Este famoso malecón está ubicado en el centro de Shanghai. Dos escenarios que te transportan a diferentes épocas, son los protagonistas de este lugar, de un lado del río Huang Pu donde viajamos al pasado con estructuras francesas coloniales y del otro lado del río. En el distrito financiero de Pudong, tenemos la majestuosa e imponente vista de los edificios que le hacen competencia por su altura al Burj Khalifa, un viaje al futuro que ha sido escenario de diversas películas. Les recomiendo estar ahí en punto de las 7 pm, pues a esa hora se encienden los edificios uno por uno, una experiencia que nadie debe perder.
My trip was summed in Shanghai and Beijing due to the few days I was able to escape my activities in Madrid to meet with my family which was flying from Mexico, today I’ll be talking about Shanghai. My top places you can’t stop visiting:
#1. The Bund – This famous waterfont is in Shanghai’s center. Two scenarios which transport you to different seasons, are the main characters of this place, aside the Huang Pu river we travel to the past with french colonial structures and across the other side of the river, de financial district of Pudong, we have the majestic and imposing view of the buildings which compete for its height to the Burj Khalifa, a trip to the future which has been scenario to movies such as Skyfall 007. I recommend being there 7 pm sharp, since at that hour, the buildings are lighten up one by one, an experience no one can miss.
#2. Cruce de Huangpu River – No hay excusa para no disfrutar de un pequeño cruce a través del río. Los cruces pueden durar de 30 minutos a 4 horas y algunos incluyen cena debajo de las luces de los rascacielos de Shanghai. En el camino, puedes ver la ciudad desde otra perspectiva totalmente; el Bund, la torre Jin Mao, la torre de TV del Oriental Pearl y el parque Huangpu, son sólo algunos de los tantos lugares por ver y fotografiar.
#2. Huangpu River crossing – There’s no excuse not to enjoy a little cruise across the river. The cruises can last between 30 minutes to 4 hours and some of them include dinner below the skyscraper’s lights of Shanghai. On the way, you can see Shanghai from a whole new perspective; the Bund, the Jin Mao tower, the Oriental Pearl TV tower and the Huangpu park, which are only a few of the many places to see and photograph.
#3. Templo de Jade Buddha – Es el templo más famoso de Shanghai y es conocido por sus Buddhas blancos de jade, esculpidos con un sólo trozo de jade Birmano. Las estatuas están en casas separadas entre joyas y piedras preciosas. También hay esculturas antiguas talladas, pinturas y reliquias Budhistas. La fachada principal es increíble con el contraste con los edificios modernos.
#3. Jade Buddha Temple – Is the most famous temple of Shanghai and its known for or it’s white jade Buddhas carved from a single slab of Burmese jade. The statues are housed in separate houses amongst beautiful jewels and stones. In addition, there are also ancient carvings, paintings and precious Buddhist cultural relics. The principal frontage is beautiful and contrasts with the modern buildings, unlike any other.
#4. Nanjing Lu – El camino de Nanjing Road es por mucho el más popular para hacer shopping y de los más transitados del mundo, con miles de tiendas y restaurantes, donde podrás comprar y comer de todo, ahí se festejan los grandes días festivos, como el Año Nuevo Chino. Nanjing Road East es la parte peatonal, ahí se encuentra el famoso Peace Hotel; y Nanjing Road West cuenta con los almacenes más lujosos del mundo. Aquí podrás encontrar algo para cada persona, te recomiendo recorrer desde People’s Park hasta el Bund.
#4. Nanjing Lu – The road to Nanjing Road is by far the most popular to go shopping in the streets of Shanghai, and also one of the most transited of the world, with thousands of stores and restaurants, where you’ll be able to shop and eat everything you want, that’s where they celebrate the big festive days, such as the Chinese New Year’s Eve. Nanjing Road East es la parte peatonal, ahí se encuentra el famoso Peace Hotel; y Nanjing Road West habilitada para transporte cuenta con los almacenes mas lujosos del mundo. En Nanjing road encuentras algo para cada persona, te recomiendo recorrer desde People’s Park hasta el Bund.
#5. Yu Yuan – Diseñado durante la dinastía Ming. Está en el centro de Old Town, cerca de la antigua muralla justo al sur del Bund, este Jardín de Paz y Comfort, ofrece un escape de la ciudad. Con 30 pabellones, este jardín del siglo 16 puede ser explorado durante días. Cuenta con muchos templos y salones, de ellos el Grand Rockery es el más popular donde toneladas de raras piedras amarillas se combinan con arroz para formar una escultura masiva de 14 metros de alto. Vale la pena visitar también el jardín y todos los alrededores que forman parte del «Old Town».
#5. Yu Yuan – Designed during the Ming dynasty. It’s in Old Town’s downtown, near the ancient Great Wall just south to the Bund, this Garden of Peace and Comfort, offers an escape from the hasty rhythm of the city. Its got 30 pavilions, this sixteenth century garden can be explored for days, also a lot of temples and rooms, the Great Rickery is the most popular of them. Tons of weird yellow stones are combined with rice glue to make a massive sculpture which is 14 meters tall. It’s worth it to visit the garden and all of it’s surroundings which are part of the «Old Town».
#6. Xin Tian Di – El distrito más popular de Shanghai famoso por sus restaurantes y bares con música en vivo.Tanto turistas como locales, llenan las calles día y noche. Xin Tian Di está dividido en bloques Norte y Sur. El bloque Sur es el más moderno de los dos y es hogar de los primeros grandes centros comerciales al igual que boutiques, restaurantes y discotecas.
#6. Xin Tian Di – The most popular district of Shanghai for its restaurants and bars with live music, is a great example of the effort of urban restauration. Tourists and locals alike pack the streets day and night. Xin Tian Di is divided in blocks North and South. The South Block is the more modern of the two and is home to one of China’s first major shopping centers as well as boutiques, restaurants and nightclubs.

Restaurantes: Din Tai Fung, en donde sirven dumplings buenísimos, recomiendo los de trufa negra o el de foie. También está el Mr and Ms Bund, un lugar de comida fusión con vistas al Bund, ambientazo, música y bueno, ¡la comida está riquísima!
These are the #must to visit while being in Shanghai:
Restaurants: Din Tai Fung, in which they serve amazing dumplings, I recommend the truffle ones and black or the foie one. There’s also Mr and Ms Bund, a fusion type of food place with visits to the Bund, cool environment, music and well, the food’s quite delicious!
Goodfellas. El restaurante, de amigo Mattia, al cual no me aguante las ganas y fui dos veces a disfrutar de su deliciosa comida italiana, donde lo mejor es la Maltagliati.
Goodfellas. The restaurant, of my friend Mattia, which I couldn’t endure and went two times to enjoy a delicious italian meal, where the best is the Maltagliati Pasta.
Discotecas y bares:
El Bar Rouge es el must en Shanghai, está en el mismo edificio de Mr and Ms Bund, tiene una terraza donde puedes disfrutar la mejor vista hacia el Bund, no saben la sensación de sentimientos encontrados al estar ahí disfrutando de las vistas, buena música y un ambiente súper internacional. Me sentí privilegiada al por poder compartir con mi hermana esta inigualable experiencia.
Clubs and bars:
The Rouge Bar is the must in Shanghai, its in the same building of Mr and Ms Bund, it has a terrace from where you can enjoy the best view towards the Bund, you have no idea the thrill of mixed feelings to be there enjoying the views, good music and a super international environment. I felt privileged to be able to share this outstanding experience with my sister.
